How to choose the right inhaler (nebulizer)?
The inhaler should be:
available for use at any age and in severe forms of the disease
reliable
easy to use
ensure the deposition of a large fraction of the drug in the lungs

What are inhalers (nebulizers)?
Compressor Inhalers

The principle of operation of the compressor inhaler is that the electric compressor delivers a powerful stream of air into the spray chamber, where, upon contact with the drug, a dispersed aerosol is formed containing particles less than 5 microns, which is optimal for the delivery of drugs to the lungs.

Ultrasonic inhalers

The principle of operation of the ultrasonic inhaler lies in the fact that the formation of an aerosol occurs through exposure of the fluid to ultrasonic vibrations generated by the piezoelectric element. About 90% of aerosol particles have a size of 2-3 microns, due to which they reach the small bronchi and bronchioles.

The main difference between compressor and ultrasonic inhalers is noiselessness and restriction of the use of certain types of drugs. A compressor inhaler is considered versatile in terms of drug use, but the presence of a compressor makes it more noisy than an ultrasonic inhaler. Due to the use of the ultrasonic method of splitting substances in ultrasonic inhalers, essential oils cannot be used.

How to use a nebulizer (inhaler)
During inhalation, one should sit, not talk and keep the nebulizer and / or spray mask straight.
Sterile saline should be used as a solvent (distilled or boiled water is not suitable)
When refilling the inhalation solution, use a pipette or sterile syringes. Nebulizer refill immediately before inhalation
During inhalation, one should try to breathe deeply, slowly, through the mouth. This is especially important when using a mask. The mask should fit snugly to the face: increasing the distance significantly reduces the effectiveness of inhalation.
Try to hold your breath for 1-2 seconds before each exhalation. If this recommendation is not feasible (for example, in seriously ill patients), then you just need to breathe calmly.
After inhalation of steroid preparations and antibiotics, the mouth should be thoroughly rinsed (when using a mask, wash without touching the eye area).
After inhalation, the nebulizer should be washed with clean water and dried. Frequent washing of the nebulizer is necessary to prevent the crystallization of drugs and bacterial contamination of the device. If several people use one nebulizer, after each use it is necessary to carry out the cleaning and disinfection of the nebulizer recommended in the instructions with the utmost care!
